Summary: Kai is still down over his recent break-up, until one night he meets a beautiful woman. The woman of his dreams infact. Except it turns out she isn't a woman at all...
Comment: Well getting this up took forever. I finally had to force myself to sit down and write it. I hope it's ok. I just wanted to get it out of the way so I can start the next chapter :D Comments and feedback are <33
The trip out to the venue was taking much longer than previously expected and Kai was beginning to grow nervous. With hands clasped behind his back he began pacing the length of the bus, not even stopping when Reita yelled at him to just sit down. Really the bassist just wanted him to stop walking infront of the video game he was fully absorbed in at the moment, as he had already died twice thanks to the drummer’s big head.
Kai guessed that he and Reita were the only ones still awake because Byou was passed out in a recliner behind him, most of ScreW headed straight for the bunks as soon as they got on, and Aoi and Uruha were cuddled together on the couch opposite Reita, fast asleep. Honestly he thought that they would’ve wanted to socialize a bit, get to know everybody better. Guess he was wrong. Though they would be spending the next six months together, so there was no real rush.
Finally ceasing his pacing, the brunette settled for rummaging through the fridge in search of his bottle of green tea he had bought on their last stop. Thankfully it was still there, unlike the many times where he had bought something only to have it disappear. He always knew who the culprit was, though he was too light hearted to point it out. As he closed the fridge he noticed a flash of dark brunette hair out of the corner of his eye and he looked over to see Ruki who had an uncapped bottle of water in his hand, and an impish grin on his face. “What are you doing?” The drummer asked in an authoritative voice, as he watched his vocalist tip toe closer and closer to the dozing Byou. “I’m getting revenge.” Rolling his eye Kai took a step forward and took the bottle from Ruki’s hand before landing a slap to the back of his head. The two had been at each other’s throats all morning. Byou had started it all though. “Damnit Kai!” The smaller man grumbled, a hand rubbing the back of his head gingerly. “Just because he flicked a few guitar picks at you doesn’t mean you need to douse him with water.” The drummer crossed his arms over his chest, and gave Ruki the ‘don’t argue if you know what’s good for you,’ stare. Sure enough the vocalist didn’t argue, instead he stalked away to take a seat next to Reita, all the while grumbling something about being hit in the eye with a guitar pick.
Letting out a sigh Kai took a seat at the small dining table, the bottle of water sat down on the table top before him as he unscrewed the lid from his own tea. “Such children.” He mumbled to himself before taking a long drink, his mood lifting considerably with that one drink. “But atleast they have a good leader to play mom.” That voice, where had he heard it before? It sounded all too familiar.
Looking around the bottle pressed to his lips the older man noticed ScreW’s guitarist was now sitting across from him, a smile on his face. Placing the bottle down a slight blush spread to his cheeks, realizing how true Kazuki’s words were. “It’s not always fun playing mom though.” He admitted as he watched the other man grab at the bottle of water on the table before bringing it to his face to inspect it. “I wouldn’t drink that. No telling what Ruki’s done to it.” Though he was pretty sure it was just plain water, he didn’t want to risk it. “Thanks.” The guitarist chuckled as he set the bottle back down, and looked back to Kai, a sort of determination in his eyes. “Even if it’s not fun, someone’s got to do it.” Kazuki shrugged, not having much else to add onto the topic. “Yeah, but I just wish they’d grow up sometimes.” Kai sighed for the umpteenth time that day and looked over to Ruki who was now playing Playstation with Reita, and obviously getting his ass kicked at it. “Or maybe you just need to loosen up sometimes.” The guitarist laughed, pulling him back to their conversation. Kai balked at his words. “I do loosen up, bu-” He was quickly cut off by the sound of snickering from across the table. “Well then, when was the last time you go drunk?” Ofcourse, Kazuki knew full well when the last time the drummer was drunk. He remembered that night with vivid detail, and yet here he was now, not three feet away from the man who had been trying his best to forget it all. “Friday, and I spent the whole weekend with a horrible hangover.” He grumbled low and Kazuki laughed again. “Well if you drank more you wouldn’t get such a bad hangover.” Why was he trying to get the other man to drink more? There was no way there would be another chance for him as a women, especially since Kai knew what ‘she’ looked like already. He was even amazed that the drummer hadn’t figured out it was him yet. Though he was thankful for such.
“Wake up lazy ass, we’re here!” Was all Kai heard before the person walked away, leaving him slumped over on the table. Had they left him to sleep on the table all day? Oh he hoped not, or he would have the worst back ache.
Standing up he cringed, a stinging pain racing up his spine. “Shit.. “He cursed before placing a hand to the small of his back, the other covering half of his face. “Are you ok?” Came a voice from beside him, and Kai jumped, only to earn another jolt of pain from his back. “Yeah, just shouldn’t have fallen asleep there.” The drummer blinked into the darkness of the bus, though he knew full well he was talking to Kazuki. He would recognize that voice anywhere, and yet it still held a mystery within it. “I’m sorry. I should have woken you up. Here let me help.” Before Kai could protest in any way he felt the guitarist’s arm slip around his waist, supporting half of his weight, as he was led down the stairs and out into the cool night air. The weather there was so much nicer than Tokyo, especially that time of the year. “Kazuki, you don’t have to help me. I can walk; my back just hurts a little.” The older man mumbled as he was helped into the venue, the din of concert goers and staff quickly enveloping them. “Ok, but just take something and be careful.” Was the last words he heard from the guitarist before he released his waist and walked away to rejoin his own band. His voice was so full of concern and worry, and Kai couldn’t help but smile. Never before had anyone ever worried about him.A/N - So I'm sorry to end it on another cliff hanger of sorts.. But I wanted to end it where Kai is actually starting to feel something [even if it's just the feeling that he's cared for] I'll update sooner next time though.. Promise~!
